I am a consultant cardiac surgeon at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, part of the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
I undertake almost all varieties of adult cardiac surgery excluding transplant. This includes coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and aortic valve replacement (AVR) which are the most common heart operations but my special interest is mitral valve surgery especially mitral valve repair.

Overall the treatment l received was excellent, only criticism l have was the wait time for the Operation which l know was compounded by COVID and NHS strikes which were out of anybody’s control. Mr Srivastava was first class from the moment l first met him in December 2022.

The wait time from diagnosis of the need for surgery (July 2022) and the operation taking place (April 2023) was quite long but in the current climate of under - resourced services understandable and in my case tolerable. Even so I feel I can't award five stars in this category.
